There is a false notion that abortion will prevent unwanted children from entering the foster care system – that more children will come into foster care because of the overturn of Roe.
Foster Children are Not Unwanted
Research has shown that the majority of children who enter foster care are victims or neglected and not relinquished. They have suffered an injury in their own home. After an investigation, it was determined that the caregivers or parents cannot provide a safe environment for their child. These issues could include mental health, poverty, homelessness or drug use. It doesn’t matter the reason why, it’s because the child is in risk. They are not unwelcome.
